Acupoint Reflexology Level I
Participants will learn to locate, identify, assess and balance acupressure points (acupoints) on the feet and ankles. This course will introduce new techniques to bodyworkers and energy therapists while both beginning and experienced reflexologists will gain a broader understanding of the integral connection between acupoints and reflex points. This course addresses how to locate and identify acupoints, activate energy channels through the feet, and how to perform a deeply relaxing session combining reflexology, acupressure and energy balancing. More than 10 therapeutic protocols will be presented including those for headaches, insomnia, anxiety, menstrual pain and dysfunction, high blood pressure, jaw clenching, infertility, chronic lumbar pain, respiratory issues, kidney stones, depression and constipation. This course offers 14 ARCB and 14 NCBTMB continuing education units. No experience in reflexology or acupressure is necessary to attend!

· Learn the physical and psycho-spiritual correspondences of each acupoint
· Identify the reflexes that overlap the acupoints and their common associations

· Describe possible client reactions and sensations to acupoint stimulation
· Identify the most commonly used acupoints and their therapeutic value

Acupoint Reflexology - Q & A
I'm a reflexologist. I know all the reflexes in the foot. Why should I take Acupoint Reflexology - Level I?
This question is best answered with an example:
Let's say we're working the shoulder blade/rhomboids reflex, located between the 1st and 2nd toes from the dorsal webbing to just below the metatarsal heads. This area is extremely tender for the client but they report no shoulder blade or back problems. In Acupoint Reflexology, you will learn that acupoints Liver 2 and Liver 3 are in this area. The physical indications of these points include headaches, migraines, eye problems, and menstrual dysfunctions. The main emotional function of the liver meridian is to empower planning, striving, creativity, and purpose. So, if there is sensitivity in the shoulder blade reflexes the client may be experiencing problems not only with the shoulder blades but also with the head, eyes or menstrual function. Conversely, a physical problem may not yet have manifested - the client may have simply lost their sense of purpose.
Acupoint Reflexology Level I introduces what I consider "sister" points to the reflexes. Both acupoints and reflexes are best used together (1) to have a fuller understanding of the client's needs and issues and (2) to provide the client with a well-rounded session.
Is this information beneficial to massage therapists and other bodyworkers?
Yes. Bodyworkers will gain new tools to use in their practice. Bodyworkers who already incorporate foot massage will now understand how to affect health conditions through specific areas of the feet.
How is this information beneficial to energy therapists like practitioners of reiki, polarity therapy, energy medicine, and acupressure?
Acupoint Reflexology is an energy healing system. If you have studied acupressure but have not learned all of the points on the feet, this course will cover 44 points on the feet and their correspondences. For reiki and other energy therapists, Acupoint Reflexology gives you a new set of techniques to use on clients that centers around light touch.
Can I practice Acupoint Reflexology if I'm not licensed as a bodyworker?
Please check the rules and regulations of the state where you reside or intend to work. The Acupoint Reflexology course(s) may be used by any practitioner that sees a way to incorporate this method into their current practice. If you are interested in using Acupoint Reflexology as a featured technique in your practice, you may want to consider completing the Acupoint Reflexology certification.
Is Acupoint Reflexology - Level I a certification course?
No. Acupoint Reflexology Level I is one part of certification which is in the development process. To complete the certification process, participants must take all three levels of Acupoint Reflexology and complete 20 hours of case studies. Each participant, however, will receive a certificate of completion for each course level.
Can I get massage CEUs for this class?
Yes, 14 NCBTMB massage CEUs are available for each level.
Will there be other levels?
Yes. There are three levels planned for Acupoint Reflexology.
Level I introduces the acupoints on the feet, presents an energy opening sequence, and provides energy balancing protocols for various conditions.
Level II provides a deeper understanding of the classification of points, introduces the acupoints on the hands/wrists, and provides energy releasing protocols for various conditions.
Level III emphasizes assessment and creating a plan of action. This course covers acupoints on the face, and ways to assess patterns of behavior, emotion and physical constitution through face reading and investigative listening.
